Inside the EESTEC
there has grown a need to trace and keep track of our former members. This
idea has been considered among the younger and older generations of EESTEC;
In the Congress (Tampere - Helsinki, April 1997) EESTEC Alumni was
discussed as a part of one workshop. The Board was given a task by the
General Assembly to start the EESTEC Alumni. During the EESTEC Congress
1998 in Reggio Emilia The EESTEC Statutes were extended in order to state
the relationship between EESTEC Alumni and EESTEC.
What is it all about?
First of all it is
a way to stay in contact with EESTEC matters for the members who have graduated
/ are about to graduate and don't have that much time to spend in EESTEC
activities. It is also a good way to reserve the contacts between your
friends in EESTEC, who are more or less in the same level of studies. For
younger EESTEC members Alumni is a channel where they can find "the living
history" of EESTEC and maybe ask for advise or help of how the things have
been done before. In international level EESTEC hopes that Alumni helps
in finding right persons to turn to when seeking sponsoring or in getting
interesting articles to the Newsletter.
What
has been discussed so far:
| · | Keeping
contact with each other There are some mailing lists for EESTEC Alumni in which all kind of discussions between the members or announcements to the members can be made. The lists are maintained by the EESTEC Alumni Contact Person and there is a web interface, where you can subscribe to the lists, browse through the archives and do other customizations to your subscriptions. Of course Alumni members can still stay in other mailing lists of EESTEC too if they want so. |
· | Participating
in EESTEC activities Alumni members will be invited to take part in for example to the last General Meeting of the Congress or some sessions in Workshops and farewell parties of any kind of events. In General Meeting Alumni members are only observers of whom can be given a right to speak. In Workshops Alumni members can be observers, lecturers or leaders of the group if the subject of the Workshop is close to their studies or work. Alumni members can also be invited to any other EESTEC event if organizing Local Committee sees it convenient or necessary. Usually the costs of the participating in EESTEC activities (food, accommodation, travel expenses) are paid by Alumni members themselves. |
| · | Arranging
own Alumni activities The EESTEC Alumni members can organize activities for themselves. These activities are not so EESTEC related than the official EESTEC activities and their structure, finance and means can be freely decided among the Alumni members themselves. If wanted younger EESTECers can also be invited. |
How to become an Alumni member?
If you want to join to the EESTEC Alumni, the only thing to do is to subscribe to the <announce AT alumni.eestec.org> mailing-list, and after the moderator of the list has approved your subscription, you can consider yourself as part of EESTEC Alumni.
